Subject: [Fwd: Research Access Program] From: Laszlo Mihaly Date: Tue, 30 Oct 2007 14:45:25 -0500 To: PAGRA-L@lists.sunysb.edu Dear Fellow Physics Graduate Students, as treasurer of the Graduate Student Organization I would like to remind all of you of the possibility to use the GSO Research Access Program (RAP) when you present your work at a conference. The aim of the program is to aid in the professional development of graduate students by providing financial assistance in the form of travel grants. Specifically, RAP provides funds for graduate students to travel to a conference, or a performance, in order to present a professional work related to their particular academic discipline. The amount of funding is of $250 every fiscal year for each graduate student. This source of funding can also be used as a supplement to other funding that the student might receive from other sources (for instance if you go to a conference and spend $1000, you can request $250 using RAP and use other grants or available resources to cover the remaining $750). Already many students in our campus use this possibility, and I would like to encourage as many students as possible in the Physics program to benefit from it too. Please visit the GSO website www.sbgso.org to find the necessary form to request RAP.
