Please post the following attachment.  The text is included below.  The 
first three deadlines will be posted at the Graduate School's website 
under Graduation Information - Information and FAQs - Summary of 
Deadlines. You may also forward this to your May 2008 degree candidates.

Please note that August 2008 candidates who wish to participate in any of 
the graduation ceremonies should also apply for graduation by Monday, 
February 11th.

TO ALL DEPARTMENTS WITH GRADUATE PROGRAMS AND DEGREE CANDIDATES FOR SPRING 
2008 DIPLOMAS

THE FOLLOWING DEADLINES ARE IN EFFECT:




Last day for the Graduate School to receive Spring      Friday, February 
8, 2008
Advancement to Candidacy (G5 status) forms from 
Departments.
Please submit these forms no later than 4pm on February 8th.

Last day for Graduate Students to apply for     Monday, February 11, 2008
graduation online for May and August 2008 candidates. 
The online form can be found at the Graduate School’s 
website at www.grad.sunysb.edu. 
(Go to Graduation Information – Application for Graduation)

Last day for Graduate Students to file theses/  Tuesday, May 20, 2008
dissertations with the Graduate School Office.
NOTE: Extensions to this deadline are not granted.

Last day for Departments to submit completion   Tuesday, June 9, 2008
statements for candidates who have completed
all requirements for the degree. 

Candidates for May diplomas must be registered for at least one 
graduate-level credit in the Spring 2008 semester in order to graduate.  
During the Fall and Spring zero credit courses do not constitute 
fulfillment of the registration requirement for graduation.

THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates who do not complete degree requirements must reapply for a 
subsequent degree awarding period.  Degree applications are not carried 
forward.
