Subject:  Travel Grants for India-U.S. Physics Student Visitation &
Professorship Awards in Physics Programs

The Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and the American
Physical Society (APS) are pleased to announce the call for proposals
for two programs: 1) the India-U.S. Physics Student Visitation
Program and 2) the India-U.S. Professorship Awards in Physics.

Through the Physics Student Visitation Program, U.S. and Indian
graduate students may apply for travel funds of US $3,000 to pursue
a breadth of opportunities in physics, such as to:

.Attend a short-course, or summer institute;
.Visit with a professor in his/her field of study;
.Work temporarily in a lab; or
.Any other opportunity that the student/professor feels is worthy
of travel support.

The APS-IUSSTF program aims to primarily support graduate student
travel to India by U.S. citizens, while still enabling some Indian
student travel to the United States.  Awards may be used for travel,
materials, and expenses associated with the visitation as agreed
upon by the APS and the IUSSTF, in consultation with the host
institution.

The Professorship Awards in Physics funds physicists in India or
the United States wishing to visit overseas to teach short courses
or provide a physics lecture series delivered at a U.S. or Indian
university.  Awards will be up to U.S. $4,000.

The deadline for both programs is 31 March 2009.  Recipients will
be selected by a joint APS-IUSSTF Review Committee.

We ask you to please share the information about the India-U.S.
Physics Student Visitation Program with your graduate students and
to encourage them to apply.  Further details about both programs,
