Hello Pat, not sure if you remember me, I am Felix Matathias, got my PhD from Stony Brook with Tom Hemmick and Barbara Jacak in 2004. This is a great position for a new graduate and the manager of the group which is hiring is a personal friend, a great mathematician and a great manager to work for. The position itself is also very challenging and rewarding.
We are looking for someone with very strong math and programming skills. I believe PhD students from our department (mostly from the theoretical areas) or the math department could certainly fit the bill since I know the quality of the Stony Brook students is very strong.
