MA Program

Master's Degree in Physics

Department of Physics & Astronomy at Stony Brook University awards a Master degree to students who have s completed at least 30 credits of Graduate work with grade B or better and have passed the Comprehensive Exam at the Master level. The comprehensive exam can be replaced by writing a Master thesis.

Opportunities for Graduates

Graduates of the MA program have a solid foundation in graduate physics that prepares them either for today's workplace of for pursueing a Ph.D degree in Physics or Astronomy. We offer a divers curriculum that satisfies both needs (see sample course sequences here).
